Barcelona Card, worthy?

Hi travelers!

Now it’s the time for the Barcelona Card, a smart card with an NFC chip that provides free admission to many attractions, museums and leisure activities -one card per person- and it activates the first time you use it at any of these attractions. The Barcelona Card is valid for 72h, 96h or 120h and it costs 43,20/52,20/56,70 €.

If you are a family, the price for kids (4-12 years old) would be 23,40/ 31,50/ 36,00 €

There’s even an express 48 hours Card but keep reading to see the difference between this one and the others.

What does the Barcelona Card include?

With the Barcelona Card you’ll be able to travel free on the metro, buses, train, trams and even on the airport train and metro. You’ll get free admission to, or discounts at, Barcelona’s most important museums and many places of interest.

Check the list here and watch my Youtube video “1 day in Barcelona” or “2 days in Barcelona” to make a list of what are the attractions you don’t want to miss.

  • free entrance to 28 museums
  • unlimited trips by metro/bus/train/tram/fonicular Montjuic (not night buses)
  • it can be used to go to the airport by public transportation
  • discounts in 42 attractions & tours (not Sagrada Familia nor Park Güell)

The express 48 hours Card only includes:

  • not free entrances
  • unlimited trips by metro/bus/train/tram/fonicular Montjuic (not night buses)
  • It can be used to go to the airport by public transportation
  • discounts in 42 museums, attractions and tours. (not Sagrada Familia nor Park Güell) See list 2022

How much would you spend if you do it on your own vs buying the Barcelona Card?

  • If you are coming to Barcelona for at least 3 days, the unlimited travel pass “Hola Barcelona Travel Card” is 22,61€
  • If you want to go to Picasso Museum/National Museum of Art of Catalunya it’s 12€
  • If you will visit at least one of the Gaudí attractions: Casa Batlló, La Pedrera or Casa Vicens you get 3€ discount on each of them.
  • If you are taking the Catalunya Bus Turistic it has 10€ discount.

Here you have your 43€ for your Barcelona Card based on these attractions in Barcelona that are usually visited.

Conclusion:

  • If you are coming to Barcelona for just 3 days, and you want to visit a lot of attractions & museums + you want unlimited trips by public transportation including airport, it’s worthy.
